The Bengal Sultanate army and the Mughal forces, under the emperor Akbar, met on this day in the Battle of Tukaroi. It led to the conquest of Bengal by the Mughals.
Bengal was then being ruled by Daud Khan Karrani, who had captured Fort Zamania, a frontier post of the Mughal empire. Akbar himself initially led a campaign against Daud Khan and captured Patna.

But he returned to Fatehpur Sikri, leaving the campaign in charge of his general Munim Khan, who met Daud Khan’s forces at Tukaroi, a small village now in Odisha.
Daud Khan fled the scene and the Mughals won a decisive victory. The Treaty of Katak was signed between the two sides. Bengal and Bihar became Mughal territory.
