The city was shrouded in a blanket of clouds and received light rain on Thursday.

The Met office attributed the gloomy conditions to a system that formed under the influence of a western disturbance over northern and northwestern India that triggered heavy snowfall in the upper reaches of the country.

The sky is tipped to be foggy in the morning for the next two days but will be clearer as the day progresses. “The clouds will not be gone on Friday but there will be sunny phases,” said a Met official.

The minimum temperature on Thursday was around 16.5 degrees, a notch below yesterday but still three notches above normal.

The minimum temperature is expected to be around 15 degrees on New Year. By January 5, it is expected to dip to around 12 degrees, according to the forecast.
