On Tuesday night, 10 people who were injured in the Sunday night cave-in were still under treatment in two hospitals — SSKM and Unipon Hospital in Garden Reach.

Among them, three, who are being treated at SSKM Hospital, are “still not out of danger”.

Musarath Jahan, 35, will undergo spine surgery, a doctor said. “We have planned an operation on Wednesday. If all conditions permit, we will want to do the operation on Wednesday,” he said at SSKM.

Musarath’s son Mohammad Rahaman, 10, and daughter Khushi Parveen, also known as Joya Khatoon, 8, were under treatment at Unipon Hospital in Garden Reach. Both were discharged on Wednesday evening.

The Telegraph had mentioned their age as 7 and 5, respectively, on Tuesday based on a release from Kolkata police.

A hospital official corrected their age on Tuesday. Rajaman is 10 and Khushi 8, he said.

“The boy had a cut on his head and needed four stitches. The girl had suffered relatively minor injuries,” said Bidhan Chakraborty, the medico-legal advisor at Unipon.

Their other sibling Shaheen had a lucky escape as she had stepped out of their home just before the crash to help her mother with her chores. She had recounted to this newspaper on Monday the midnight horror.

Among the other two in a critical condition at SSKM is Moinul Haque, 23, who suffered injury in one of his legs after a column of the building fell on him. “He has undergone surgery and is now in the ICU,” mayor Firhad Hakim said after visiting the injured at SSKM on Tuesday.

Mohammad Sahiluddin, the third person, suffered a pelvic fracture.

“None of three can be said to be out of danger yet. We will be able to comment on their health after keeping them under observation for another 24 to 48 hours,” a senior official at SSKM said.

Seven persons were under treatment at Unipon till late on Tuesday.

The hospital has treated and released four persons. “Mohammad Haider, 24, was released late on Monday. Rahaman and Parveen were released on Tuesday evening, along with Mohammad Aftab Alam, 10,” said Chakraborty.

All of them, barring Rahaman had bruises and other minor injuries, he said.

Three persons who were administered first-aid at SSKM and discharged on Monday went to Unipon on Tuesday with complaints of nausea and knee pain.

“These are mostly symptoms of trauma. One of them was admitted to our hospital and two others were sent back home after observation at the Emergency. All those admitted in our hospital are conscious and stable,” said Chakraborty.
