“Officers from the detective department and Garfa police station had visited the school and studied the modus operandi to understand which particular group may have been involved,” said a senior police officer. “Over the next 48 hours the style of operation of different criminal gangs, engaged in burglary and thefts, were studied and finally the Canning gang was tracked down.”

The three had entered the playschool and then stepped inside the room where the television sets were kept by breaking open a lock using a small crowbar. The job was neatly carried out and it was difficult to make out from outside that a door had been broken.

The cops have learnt that Pradip had provided the information about the playschool, its location and the layout of the building to the others.

The deal was — cash collected after disposing the booty would be shared equally among the three.
