In the wake of the Omicron variant of coronavirus, the rate of daily positive cases has increased by leaps and bounds in the last couple of weeks in Kolkata. The South Dum Dum Municipality decided to shut its markets and standalone shops on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays across its 35 wards in an attempt to prevent further spread of the virus
