The kids at New Town’s Sunny Fort celebrated a fun and spooky Halloween party with costumes, ramp walk, Jack-o’-lantern and of course, trick-or-treats.

Three students of junior kindergarten — Anvi Nag, Gitisha Singh and Abhiyanshi Mondal — had dressed up as Tamraj Kilvish (the villain from Shaktimaan who would famously say: ‘Andhera kaayam rahe,’ Wednesday from The Addams Family and a cat respectively.

“This is Anvi’s first Halloween and she has been quite excited about this party since morning. I bought the props and dress online and did the make-up watching YouTube videos,” said her mother Ankhi Chatterjee. “I enjoyed the process too.”

Debanshee Nayak, of Class III, nailed the Wednesday look with her braided hair, gothic flair and deadpan expression. She wore an all-black outfit with white collars, just like the character from the Netflix web series.

The youngest party-goer was Atharv Sharma, all of six months. He made an entrance in an orange pumpkin costume lying in his perambulator that was done up with props like Casper ghosts and spider webs. “I tried to create something innovative. It was fun decorating the pram and the boy,” said mom Taniya Bera.

The eerie decor, vibrant costumes, chocolates and the symphony of laughter and music came together to create the perfect atmosphere for Halloween.

“We have been organising some activity or the other for the past few years on Halloween and it has always been fun, especially for the kids. They enjoy it immensely,” said Madhumita Bhattacharya, a resident who spearheaded the event. “Our society too has embraced this festival, what with Halloween-themed parties all around us. So we decided to jump on to the bandwagon and give a good time.”
