South Kolkata Nehru Yuva Kendra celebrates Yuva Utsav

Nehru Yuva Kendra South Kolkata under the Union Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports organised the Yuva Utsav with the theme – ‘Sense of Duty among the Citizens’ on October 16 at National Library, Kolkata.

The major objective of the event was to celebrate the ‘Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav’ in the spirit of youth power, spreading the ideals and values of India’s freedom struggle in the 76th year of Independence. It also aimed to promote the diverse spiritual and cultural heritage of the country among the masses through various contests like Young Artists’ Camp, Young Writers’ Camp, photography workshop, Declamation Contest, cultural festivals and youth convention.

More than 300 youths participated in the event which was attended by MP, Locket Chatterjee, former MP, Rajya Sabha, Swapan Dasgupta; legendary magician PC Sorcar Jr; Barjeet Singh, second in command, senior instructor, ITS SSB, Kolkata; Ravi Shankar, deputy commandant, ITS SSB Kolkata; Mrityunjay Mandal, eminent artist and several other distinguished guests.

Cash prizes and certificates were distributed among the winners.
