The Park Hotels will run a 65-room hotel at the Digha Convention Centre, for which an agreement was signed between the group and the Kolkata Metropolitan Development Authority (KMDA) on Tuesday.

The convention centre in New Digha has a 1,000-seat auditorium, a 6,000 square metre exhibition space and a hotel.

A portion of the convention centre was inaugurated in 2019, but the hotel is still under construction, said an official of the KMDA, which is building the facility.

“We signed an agreement with The Park Hotels on Tuesday. They will run the hotel for 30 years,” said the KMDA official.

“According to the agreement, they will share with us annually Rs 72 lakh or 18 per cent of the annual gross revenue, whichever is higher,” said the KMDA official.

There will be 17 suites in the 65-room hotel.

The KMDA will make the hotel partially ready for guests who will attend an international event that will be held on the premises in January.

“It will take another three or four months to make the hotel fully ready,” the official said.

“We are delighted to partner with KMDA and the government of West Bengal. The hotel will be a destination by itself and will be crucial for tourism development and employment generation in the area. We plan to be ready for the G20 meetings in January 2023 at Digha,” said Vijay Dewan, managing director of Apeejay Surrendra Park Hotels Limited.
