A 22-year-old man, reportedly suffering from autism, was allegedly asked to dance and beaten up on Rashbehari Avenue after he refused on Sunday evening.
The man’s family members have lodged a complaint with Tollygunge police station.
The victim suffers from autism and has “70 per cent disability,” the parents have written in the complaint.
According to the complaint, the victim was walking past the autorickshaw stand on Rashbehari Avenue, near its intersection with SP Mukherjee Road, when four men, aged between 18 and 20 years, allegedly asked him to dance.
“When he refused, they started beating him up mercilessly,” the complaint says.
The parents have told the police that their son has identified the men and said they were from Chetla.
“My son has recognised their faces... they are all residents of Chetla. They loiter around Chetla Park,” the parents have mentioned in the complaint.
“My son had seen them on his way to Chetla Park for walk,” the complaint says.
The police said they were trying to identify the accused.
