Kolkata Traffic Police posted a list of programmes that might affect the city traffic on Tuesday (16.4.2024)

  • 12 noon: Procession near from Mohor Kunja towards Shahid Minar Maidan via Cathedral Road- Jawaharlal Nehru Road – Park Street crossing - Dorina crossing – Rani Rashmoni Avenue – Mayo Road
  • 2pm: Procession near from Raja Subodh Mullick Square towards Gandhi statue via Nirmal Chandra Street, Rafi Ahmed Kidwai Road, SN Banerjee Road, Dorina crossing, New Road
  • 5.30pm: Procession near from Rajabazar crossing and will move towards Chittaranjan Avenue via Keshab Chandra Sen Street – College Street Bata – Mahatma Gandhi Road – Rabindra Sarani – Colootala Lane

East-West Metro footfall

Metro Railway ferried more than 12 lakh passengers on the Howrah Maidan-Esplanade stretch of East-West Metro between March 15, when commercial services began in the section, and April 14. “During this period, Metro Railway has carried 12.14 lakh passengers in the section of the east-west corridor (Green Line),” said an official. On the stretch between Kavi Subhash (New Garia) and Hemanta Mukhopadhyay (Ruby intersection), part of the New Garia-airport corridor (Orange Line), the passenger count has been 24,025 during the period, the official said.

Commercial services on the Kavi Subhash-Hemanta Mukhopadhyay stretch, too, started on March 15. The two newly opened sections have pushed up the daily passenger count on the north-south corridor (Blue Line), between New Garia and Dakshineswar, by 61,000, the official said. The Green Line meets the Blue Line at the Esplanade station and the Orange Line meets the Blue Line at the New Garia station
