The Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC), east zone, has made a formal recommendation to the Railway Board for addition of the delicacies from Bengal are Bihar to spice up the menu. The procurement and logistical issues are being discussed.

Fish fry was last served to First Class passengers of the Howrah-New Delhi Rajdhani Express on March 3, 2019, the 50th anniversary of Rajdhani Express. They were also served caramel pudding.

Fish fry was taken off the menu during the pandemic. “For several reasons, we have not been able to bring back fish fry, but we hope it will feature on the menu again soon,” said the source.

According to the present recommendation, passengers of all classes would be served fish fry and litti-chokha.

“I think it would be unfair to serve these dishes only to Rajdhani passengers and so a recommendation has been made for all travellers across the Indian Railways network,” the source added.
