An Indo-Japanese film festival is on at Aikatan, EZCC, from today to Sunday, to which entry is free. It is being organised by Bidhannagar Film Society and the consulate general of Japan, in association with EZCC.
The festival will screen two films a day, from 4pm and then 5.30pm. “The Japanese assortment of films has been selected by the consulate. The chosen films are not easily available on the Net or OTT platforms so guests have much to gain from this fest,” said Ritesh Basak, joint secretary of the film society. “As for the Indian films, we have curated those from different states - Bengal, Assam and Kerala.”
Today, the 2015 Japanese film Kamome Diner will be screened at 4pm and Bengali Rang Beranger Kori at 5.30pm. Tomorrow it will be Shiori of Japan and Assam’s In the land of poison woman. On Sunday, watch Neko Ninja and Kerala’s Stand Up.
The festival will be inaugurated by director, EZCC, Gouri Basu, with consul-general of Japan in Kolkata Koichi Nakagawa and film maker Ranjan Ghosh in attendance.
“We have been organising Japanese film festivals in various places, including central Kolkata and in New Town in March, and have received warm response. This time we organised the festival in Salt Lake, so that film lovers in this part of the city can also get a convenient opportunity to enjoy Japanese films,” said Nakagawa.
