Jangalmahal on the Move 3, in association with The Telegraph, saw 27 vehicles competing against each other trying to qualify for the JK Tyre Federation of Motor Sports Clubs of India (FMSCI) Indian National Regularity Run Championship (INRRC) 2021.
The Jangalmahal rally was one of the qualifying rounds for INRRC in the east zone.
The rally was flagged off from Durgapur City Centre on February 20 and covered a distance of 162.4km, including a dirt track of about 40km.
“It was a very difficult task to zero in on the rally route. We were not getting permission. Finally, we were allowed to run the rally in the Bankura north division. But then it is an elephant corridor and we were apprehensive that elephants would come in the way of the rally. But fortunately, nothing as such happened,” said Debasish Bhattacharjee, general secretary, Kolkata Automotive Sports Association, the organiser of the rally.
A ceremonial start and scrutiny of the cars was done at Automobile Association of Eastern India on February 19.
The rally went through Baliatore, Sonamukhi, Dhansimla and ended at Durgapur City Centre. There were a total of 27 participants, of which one participant’s car did not start. Four vehicles did not finish the rally. Two of them faced technical problems, while two finished late.
Subir Roy and Nirav Mehta aced this round coming first. Sk Ajgar Ali and M.K. Mohammad Musthafa came second and Sandip Mukherjee and Prakash Muthusa came third.
The finals of the INRRC 2021 will be held in north Bengal from March 24 to 26 with the flag-off in Siliguri. A total of five teams from the East have qualified for the final round of the championship. Yogesh Mullick and Sourabdeep Dutta, Jogendra Kumar Jaiswal and Suvrajit Dutta, Subir Roy and Nirav Mehta, Deep Dutta and Chandan Sen and Soumyadeb Shaw and Souvick De Sarkar are the five teams from the East competing in the finals.
In the Ladies Cup of INRRC 2021, Alivia SK and Sunita Prasad and Nilasha Das and Ipsita Das are the two teams from the East to qualify.
