With Ankit’s death, the toll in the Lake Town accident went up to four.

On Monday morning, Shivshankar Rathi, his mother Kamala Rathi and his son Shrivatsa who were returning from his daughter’s wedding were killed on the spot when the bus rammed into their Maruti Suzuki Ignis from behind.

The Maruti Ignis was standing at a red signal on VIP Road when the bus rammed into it.

Ankit, who graduated from Raja Manindra Chandra College, was a temporary driver with the Rathis’ and aspired to become a policeman.

A portion of his broken skull got lodged in his brain under the impact of the crash, doctors had said. They said they could not operate on him as his condition never stabilised because of excessive bleeding.
