The new police stations have been carved out of eight police stations to improve policing. “The police commissionerate has been asked to identify temporary addresses for the new police stations,” said an official of the state home department in Nabanna.

“The decision to set up a separate police station for Dakshineswar had been pending for several months. It’s a good start but a lot will depend on its location,” said Kushal Chowdhury, secretary of the Dakshineswar Kali Temple and Debottar Trust. The temple has so far been under Belghoria police station.
