South Point High School will hand over admit cards to Class X and XII examinees on time, the school authorities said on Thursday after the arrest of Krishna Damani, a trustee of South Point Education Society.

“We are supposed to hand over the admit cards to the board examinees and we
will do so as per our schedule. The principal is signing the admit cards and once
that is complete, admit cards of Class XII examinees will be distributed,” a school
official told Metro on Thursday.

The Class X admit cards are expected to be distributed early next week.

The parents of the students of both classes will be informed about the distribution of admit cards through a message, the school said.

“In its 70 years, South Point has seen many ups and downs and the institution has always stood for truth. The school will function normally and there is nothing to worry about. Nothing was disturbed today and nothing will be disturbed tomorrow,” said an official at the school.

Soft copies of the admit cards have been sent by the CBSE (Central Board of Secondary Education) to affiliated schools.

South Point High School, which was earlier affiliated to the Bengal board, now offers the CBSE curriculum.

The schools download and take printouts of the admit cards. The printouts are signed by the principal and handed to the candidates.

An official who looks after the academic matters of South Point said Class X examinees will be given their admit cards “hopefully by early next week”.

“Since we have a large number of students, it takes time to sign all the admit cards. Once that is done, a message will be sent to the parents,” the official said.

The CBSE board exams of both Class X and Class XII start on February 15.

The Class XII board practicals are underway.

“The board practicals are on and so are the classes. The school exams are scheduled to start the week after Saraswati Puja,” the school official said.
