Actor Mithun Chakraborty, who was admitted to Apollo Multispeciality Hospitals on Saturday after suffering a stroke, was discharged on Monday. He said he would soon start campaigning for the BJP.
While coming out of the hospital, the actor said he was fine. “I am fine. The only problem is that I eat too much. I eat here what I do not get in Bombay,” he said.
Chakraborty said he spoke to Prime Minister Narendra Modi while in the hospital. “He scolded me,” said the actor without giving any further details.
Chakraborty was diagnosed with an “Ischemic Cerebrovascular Accident (Stroke) of the brain” on Saturday, when he was admitted to the hospital. He fell ill while shooting in the city.
In a statement issued on Sunday, the hospital said he was “fully conscious, well-oriented and has consumed a soft diet”.
The actor said he was in a position to start working from Tuesday but he intended to start shooting again from February 19 or 20.
“I can work from tomorrow also... I will start (shooting) from 19th or 20th,” he said.
Chakraborty spoke with journalists waiting outside the hospital while leaving. He said he will not contest the Parliamentary polls.
“I will not contest the elections. If I contest, what will happen to 42 seats. I will start campaigning for the BJP from March 1. If required, I will go to other states,” he said.
Bengal has 42 Lok Sabha seats.
When asked about his reaction to what was happening in Sandeskhali, the actor said: “The time has come, people must rise. What is happening is not acceptable.”
Actor and Trinamul MP Dev had met Chakraborty in the hospital. “He came to meet me. I will not make any political comments. He is an intelligent boy, he is genuine guy,” Chakraborty said.
“Suvenduda is a very strong leader. Even if he is stopped, he will break free. It is difficult to stop him. He will be stopped today, but he will go again tomorrow,” he said, referring to the BJP’s Suvendu Adhikari, the leader of the Opposition in the Bengal
Assembly.
