Ramakrishna Math and Ramakrishna Mission will launch on May 1 a year-long celebration of the 125th year of the inception of Ramakrishna Mission with a function at Belur Math in Howrah distict, around 12km northwest of Kolkata.

The celebration, monks said, will spread Swami Vivekananda’s vision of Vedanta and its four founding principles — divinity of soul, unity of godhead, harmony of religion and service to man.

“When the world is drenched in blood because of sectarianism, Sri Ramakrishna’s teachings and the vision of Swami Vivekananda present a new gospel of peace through practical Vedanta for humanity,” said Swami Suvirananda, general secretary of the Math and Mission.

“Swami Vivekananda taught that a man’s soul is potentially divine and there is no difference between a Ram and a Rahim. This ideology is reflected in the day-to-day activity of the Mission.”

Swami Vivekananda had finalised the plan of setting up a Ramakrishna Mission in the house of Balaram Bose, a disciple of Sri Ramakrishna, on May 1, 1897. Starting on May 1, 2022, the Math and Mission authorities will organise a series of programmes at various centres of the order in India and abroad.
