Don’t have time to stock up your home bar before Puja? Or find it tiresome to queue up in front of your nearest liquor store? Fear not, these liquor delivery apps will come to your rescue and drop off your selected poison right at your doorstep. My Kolkata lists five delivery apps that will keep your spirits high even during the chaos of the festive season (and all year round).

Dooze

The newest kid on the block is Dooze. Launched in September 2022, Dooze promises a 60-minute delivery of liquor in Kolkata, and you can choose from over 300 spirits.

Shikhir Magan, director, Dooze, said, “To make the festive season even better for the people of Kolkata, Dooze will be fulfilling orders at a flat delivery fee of Rs 49 during the period, as opposed to the regular fee of Rs 99. This is applicable on all orders. Additionally, we have also tied up with specific brands and will be offering free delivery on purchase of these brands for a limited time.” You can also use coupons offered by the brand to enjoy discounts.

However, customers are requested to note the dry days during the festive season. “We observe dry days as directed by the state governments. These days [in West Bengal] are: Gandhi Jayanti (Saptami) – October 2; Dussehra (Dashami) – October 5; Maharishi Valmiki Jayanti/Eid-e-Milad – October 9 and Diwali – October 24.’’ Magan said.

Swiggy

Swiggy, one of the largest food ordering and delivery platforms in India, started home delivery of liquor in Kolkata in 2020. It started as a measure to avoid overcrowding at liquor stores during the pandemic. Swiggy joined hands with authorised retailers and the app remains one of the most convenient options for getting alcohol delivered home. It can be accessed through the ‘Wine Shops’ category on the app. Age verification is mandatory.
