Kidswear is no longer just about pretty frocks, T-shirts and shorts. Kids nowadays are aware of fashion trends and love dressing up in stylish outfits. Keeping in mind the Gen Z and their forthright choices, Warssi Kolkata by fashion stylist and designer Anupam Chatterjee has come up with a kidswear range including an eclectic variety of styles for children of all ages.
Incorporating latest trends like drapes and ruffles, and a variety of design elements like embroidery and scalloped borders, the vibrant, smart and stylish collection called ‘Putul’ is designed keeping comfort in mind. A t2 lookbook with our munchkin muses — eight-year-old Kaira Surana and Aditri Karmakar and nine-month-old Kiyansh Saha.
Kiyansh looks cute and charming in this contrasting yellow-and-red linen kurta and silk dhoti set, designed with floral embroidery detailing.
Aditri strikes a beautiful pose in the quintessential festive white-and-red woven sari. The trendy hakoba sari is designed with embroidery detailing along the border, perfect as festive or occasion wear. It is accessorised with a maangtikka to create the complete look.
Kaira looks stunning in this fuchsia pink Benarasi anarkali detailed with golden buta work, paired with a jacket designed with gota border. The jasmine malas around her hair adds to the look.

Kiyansh cuts a smart and comfy frame in this mustard linen kurta paired with a brown contrasting silk dhoti. The kurta is detailed with intricate embroidery work.

“I used to make only menswear and womenswear. But ahead of the Pujas, my mother asked me to make clothes for a few of our relatives’ kids. She did not want to gift ready-made ones from the market. It gave me immense joy to make those outfits. While making those outfits, I realised that there are hardly any options for kids to wear customised clothing. I wanted to do kidswear and my mother’s wish helped me to finally take it forward. It gives me immense happiness to launch this collection on Children’s Day with The Telegraph. Kids nowadays are aware and very specific. They know what they want to wear and what they feel comfortable in. Our kidswear is completely customised. I spend time with the kids to understand them, know their preferences and then make the design for them as per their requirements. We take extra care of the lining, stitching and finishing when it comes to kidswear as making safe and comfortable clothing for them is extremely important. We use eco-friendly cotton lining for maximum comfort,” said Anupam Chatterjee, designer.
