Karaoke Thursday is already a thing at Tavern by Trincas, the “secret” restaurant on Park Street, which celebrated five decades of awesomeness in 2023. And now, taking that a notch higher, the cosy space with its whitewashed stone walls and chill vibes is all set to host open mic and jam sessions.

“We got a lot of enquiries from people of all ages interested in performing at Trincas, spanning various genres like Bengali, Hindi rock and English, as well as from instrumental players. That sparked the idea: why not provide a platform for aspiring musicians?” explained Anand Puri, the third-generation owner of Trincas.

The establishment, acquired in 1959 by Anand's grandfather Om Prakash Puri and Ellis Joshua from Cinzio Trinca, a Swiss gentleman, was originally a tea room. They transformed it into a restaurant, introduced live “floor shows,” and music has since become an integral part of Trincas’ identity.

The stage at the 17B Park Street address will host an open mic session for promising talent from 5pm-8.30pm, followed by a jam session from 9pm-11pm. There will be a central band / theme every week; the first one is ‘Funk’. The establishment threw open the registrations on Wednesday, and have already seen quite a number of interested candidates.

Register here. Bring your vibe, voice, and tribe.

PS: While you’re there, don’t forget to wrap up your steaks and sizzlers with the new range of desserts at Trincas, created by Jayatri Biswas of The Fat Little Penguin, in particular the sinfully rich Devil’s Chocolate Cake, gooey Banoffee Pie, luscious Creme Brulee and tangy Lemon Pie Verrine.
