The eighth edition of IIHM Teachers’ Day Awards 2023 honoured the contributions of educationists in various fields from city and districts

Several distinguished teachers and principals from city schools graced the event, where educationists from over 50 schools from the districts and 72 schools from Calcutta were honoured with loud cheers and applause

Priyadarshini Hakim was felicitated with the IIHM Pride of Bengal Award for excellence in education, entrepreneurship and social services by Suborno Bose, Sanjukta Bose and Paul Walsh. She launched a health awareness camp for women’s hygiene called Prati Mash, Prati Mashey. “I really feel blessed and proud of the endeavours put forward by IIHM in felicitating teachers across so many different schools. It’s a very unique concept and I extend my best wishes to all of them,” said Hakim.

International Institute of Hotel Management hosted the eighth edition of their annual IIHM Teachers’ Day Awards in association with the International Hospitality Council, London and Delhi, last month at IIHM’s Salt Lake campus. The gala award ceremony that took place in two segments felicitated the unparalleled contribution of teachers in various fields who have been instrumental in shaping students over the years. Several distinguished teachers and principals from city schools graced the event, where educationists from over 50 schools from the districts and 72 schools from Calcutta were honoured with loud cheers and applause.

“It is the teachers who possess the real superpowers. Power to inform, power to inspire, power to imbibe values, power to shape youthful minds and the power to shape the fundamentals of a great nation. We at IIHM are blessed to recognise the monumental achievements of these teachers and educators,” said Suborno Bose, founder and chief mentor, IIHM. Snapshots:

Paul Walsh, a former diplomat at the British Deputy High Commission Kolkata who quit his job to empower the kids from underprivileged and disadvantaged groups through rugby, was felicitated. For more than a decade Paul Walsh’s rugby initiative ‘Khelo Rugby’ has been helping the kids in slum areas to give them a better life.

Rev. Father Dajad Tsaturyan, who is the pastor of Armenians in India and manager of Armenian College and Philanthropic Academy, was the guest of honour at the event.

Eshita Sarkar received the Teacher Par Excellence award from Aditya Academy Senior Secondary, Dum Dum.

SPECIAL AWARDS:

David Foskett, chairman of the International Hospitality Council and the Young Chef Olympiad Jury, was the recipient of the prestigious IIHM Lifetime Achievement Award for outstanding contribution to the development of education and altering the facet of culinary education in India.

IIHM Pride of Bengal award for Excellence in Education went to Shailesh Khaitan from Indus Valley World School.
