Around 350 people gathered at the Royal Calcutta Golf Club (RCGC) amidst the winter chill and lush greens, raising a toast to the year that was, and the year that will be. The night erupted with chants of ‘Happy New Year’ at the club’s 31st Nite celebration, presented by Johnnie Walker Refreshing Mixer, in association with My Kolkata.

RCGC invited Prateek Bhaduri from Pune, who created a magical vibe with his voice. ‘Kolkata, thank you for your energy. This was my sixth gig in the city, and it was the best one so far,’ he said

The motto for RCGC this year was to organise an elegant and intimate celebration, largely comprising members. The committee focused on crafting a party experience centred around comfort, rather than footfall. Snacks were served at the table, rather than having people stand in a line for coupons. This year’s party also had cabanas, which provided exclusive butler service and a more relaxed party experience.

The evening began with an electric performance by Prateek Bhaduri, a probashi from Pune, adjudged the Best Pop Artist in India at the Radio City Freedom Awards 2016. This was followed by a set from DJ Shakey, who played popular hits like Brown Munde, Kala Chashma, and Kar Gayi Chull. “Tonight was about spinning tracks that make hearts dance! Blending beats against the historic backdrop The Royale took the celebration to a whole new rhythm,” shared DJ Shakey.

At midnight, the sky was illuminated with a spectacular fireworks display, manifesting a bright 2024. The celebrations were made tastier with delicacies from Don Giovanni’s, including Dal Bukhari, Sarson ka Saag, Chilli Paneer, and Tiramisu.

The fireworks show at midnight was the favourite part for (L-R) Neelanjana and Gaurav Ghosh, and Sunny Uthup. ‘It was really gratifying to see members enjoying themselves. The team put in a lot of effort to organise such a unique party,’ said Gaurav, the captain of RCGC

“Seeing the guests enjoying the music, food and beverages made all our efforts worthwhile, culminating with a spellbinding fireworks display at midnight. It was truly a members' evening and felt like a big house party, characterised by genuine warmth and camaraderie,” said Nirmal Agarwal and Siddhartha Kapoor, who were the conveners for entertainment and food.
