Royal Calcutta Golf Club once again witnessed an exhilarating series of matches with their annual inter-club darts event, the Royal Darts Carnival, in association with t2. The carnival saw participation from nine social clubs across the city. The opening night featured a ramp walk where representative men from each of the participating clubs, who were over the age of 60, walked with their club teams. The annual event has been seeing increased interest and participation over the years. An album.
The grand champions of the night, team CC&FC, with the Gold Cup. “It is a great feeling to have won once again. We, at CC&FC, play so much darts that we know what the strengths of each player are. We strategised to maximise our strengths and utilise them to the fullest,” said Kaushik Padhi, captain of team CC&FC.
Team Bengal Rowing Cup were the runners-up for the Gold Cup.

The winner of the Silver Cup was The Saturday Club. “We had some little upsets in the early stages of the competition but we still won the Silver Cup, so we are happy with that. Next year, we are definitely looking for a gold win,” said Satyam Sethia, captain of team.
Sashank Shah from The Bengal Rowing Club was the highest scorer of the tournament.

The Most Valuable Lady Player of the tournament was Jacqueline Khanna of CC&FC.

“The Royal Darts Carnival 2023 was even bigger than last year with nine top social clubs participating. This year, the new entrants in the competition were Calcutta Club. The level of the game was very competitive compared to the past few years with many members picking up darts. The unique feature about this year’s RDC was that we had an opening with faces of the nine clubs, men who were 60-plus, walking on the ramp attired by a designer label of Calcutta, along with their club teams. They defied their age and proved that it is, truly, just a number. We also had musical nights on every day of the carnival with various bands performing live at the venue. It was a great tournament to sum it up,” said Rajesh Chandan, sports coordinator, RCGC.
“We enjoy hosting the RDC and it has become an annual feature in our sporting calendar. The great bonhomie amongst the members of the clubs in Calcutta, a week of gamesmanship and competition. Congratulations to CC&FC for winning the championship two years in a row and to the runnersup, BRC. RDC has become a very popular event in Calcutta. All clubs look forward to participating in this tournament. Every year we keep raising the bar of this tournament,” said Rohan Ghosh, club captain, RCGC.
