What to expect: Round Table India & Nuvama Private presents Light a Smile, in association with The Telegraph, Friends FM & Sprinters. The eighth edition of eastern India’s largest carnival for less-privileged children will host children aged between five years and 12 years from 40 NGOs. DJ Akash Rohira and singer Shyane Hyrapiet will keep the children entertained, along with dance performances by Amit & Dorothy dance troupe.
Hygiene/nutrition, good touch and bad touch sessions, activities for children like facepainting, live cartoon characters, and tattoo making, with gifts and goodie bags for every child. There are many activities and gifts for all the children, including lunch boxes, game stalls, beatboxing, lifestyle and personality development workshops, and fitness sessions by Endorphins. A fun-filled carnival with loads of games, gifts, chocolates, ice creams, popcorn and entertainment is expected to bring happiness and smiles to their faces forever.
Organisers speak: “Happiness doesn’t result from what we get, but from what we give.
We started this carnival with just 200 children and are fortunate that we have grown over 4,000 less-privileged children to participate today in our eighth edition of Light a Smile Carnival,” said Kshitiz Haldiam, Round Table India chairman. “Money is not the only thing that is fun to give. We can give time, we can give our expertise, we can give our love, or give a smile, that’s the purpose of the carnival. Today, give a stranger one of your smiles. It might be the only sunshine he sees all day. Share your smile with the world. It’s a symbol of friendship and peace and that’s what we want out of this event to light a smile on every child,” said honorary Tabler, Sandeep Harbhajanka.
Makaibari Classical Evening

What to Expect: A evening of classical music featuring a sarod recital by Amaan Ali Khan. He will be accompanied by Pandit Anindo Chatterjee and Anubrata Chatterjee on the tabla. A maestro in his own right, Amaan Ali Khan, along with his brother Ayaan Ali Khan, represent the seventh generation of the famous Bangash gharana of Gwalior. As a disciple of his father Ustad Amjad Ali Khan, Amaan Ali Khan’s performance style gloriously carries forward his rich musical legacy and bridges tradition with the contemporary. Known for his ability to weave magic as he renders an assortment of ragas and taals, the performance promises to be an enchanting experience for a discerning audience.
St. Joseph’s College Old Boys Alumni Association Dinner

Expect: The 19th annual reunion dinner organised by St. Joseph’s College Old Boys association to be all about reliving the magic of the good old college days for the alumni members of the college. Students from the batch of 1965 to the very recent graduates of 2022 will attend the event. The evening will start with an award ceremony where some of the alumni members will be honoured for their achievements and contributions to our society.
It will be followed by music performances by Kaif Khan of Sa Re Ga Ma Pa fame and the school’s former student Christian Lobo. Alumni members will reminisce memories of the good old days over dinner, following the performances.
Organiser speak: “We are having this reunion after a gap of two years due to Covid. Fellow Josephytes are looking forward to meeting their teachers and other batchmates. We shall also be honouring a few alumni members who have made it big in different roles in our society. This will also be the perfect occasion to remember and honour those alumni members we have lost in the past two years.” said Shahzaad Elahi, secretary of SJCOBA.
