2/10 After almost a five-year hiatus, the institute hosted the event around the theme ‘Around the world carnival’ and it included a lavish buffet spread, Chhau dance, fashion show, dance and music performances by the students and a final gig by singer Ananya Chakraborty of ‘Sa Re Ga Ma Pa’ fame

3/10 The evening started off with the launch of the institute's annual magazine ‘Zenith’ by (L-R) principal Raja Sadhukhan, chief guests Saumitra Mohan, transport secretary, and Sagnik Chowdhury, deputy director-general and regional director (east) at the tourism ministry

4/10 The starters counter and the bar fueled the energy of the visitors. There were three vegetarian and four non-vegetarian lip-smacking starters like mixed grilled seafood, grilled sausage salami and offals. The beverages were sponsored by Bacardi and included both cocktails and mocktails. Tea and coffee were served too

5/10 The main course comprised 24 dishes ranging from vegetarian, chicken, fish to pork and beef. Dishes like Indonesian fish curry, Sirloin Steak, Pork Vindaloo were a hit. Food in-charge and third-year student Jeroen Smith said: ‘We are expecting a footfall of 1,200. We have a spread of different world cuisines here. It is truly a celebration of culture through food’

The main course comprised 24 dishes ranging from vegetarian, chicken, fish to pork and beef. Dishes like Indonesian fish curry, Sirloin Steak, Pork Vindaloo were a hit. Food in-charge and third-year student Jeroen Smith said: ‘We are expecting a footfall of 1,200. We have a spread of different world cuisines here. It is truly a celebration of culture through food’

6/10 The desserts table was laid out with a whopping 18 items from waffles, smores, dark chocolate and white chocolate brownies, tarts, rum balls, doughnuts and more. Lecturer and chef Subhadip Saha said: ‘We have tried to keep a variety of desserts. Doughnuts and many other items will be made live to elevate the experience’

7/10 The diverse Indian culture was celebrated through a performance by the institute band. Students also performed eastern and contemporary dance along with a fashion show

10/10 Speaking about the Gourmet Nite, IHM Kolkata principal Raja Sadhukhan said: ‘All arrangements are made by the students and staff of the institute to make this event an extravagant affair. The theme intends to celebrate the culture and carnivals around the world. We have dishes from places like Mexico, Brazil, Spain and Goa. We are thankful to the ministry of tourism for supporting us’

Speaking about the Gourmet Nite, IHM Kolkata principal Raja Sadhukhan said: ‘All arrangements are made by the students and staff of the institute to make this event an extravagant affair. The theme intends to celebrate the culture and carnivals around the world. We have dishes from places like Mexico, Brazil, Spain and Goa.
