"Calcutta Ladies Golf Club organised the first ever Ladies Amateur Open Championship in India in 1905, breaking into the men’s terrain of ‘gentlemen only ladies forbidden’, as golf was known in those days. So, it is a matter of great pride for us that we continue to hold the tournament with some changes more than 100 years later. Ladies from across India as well as Calcutta look forward to this annual event as they get to play on the lush world-class course of RCGC for three days at a stretch. We were privileged to witness young talents drive, chip and putt with superb skill, while established players showed off their prowess. I am very happy that we could initiate some newcomers into the tournament this time," said Dhritipriya Raydasgupta, captain of Calcutta Ladies Golf Club.

The royal greens of Royal Calcutta Golf Club witnessed a showcase of sporting skills and talent as Calcutta Ladies Golf Club hosted its much-anticipated flagship tournament, the Calcutta Ladies Amateur Open Golf Championship. Held on February 6, 7 and 8, the tournament saw participation of golfers from both Calcutta and other cities. Over 70 ladies across ages 13 to 82 years participated in playing golf, which was once upon a time regarded as a gentlemen's-only game. The prize distribution ceremony saw awards being conferred upon winners across several categories, who mastered the technicalities of the game and scored points to their credit. Highlights.
