What’s the first thing you’d want to do this New Year?

Oh, there are so many things I would like to do this New Year. While I don’t really believe in New Year resolutions, I think that New Year offers you a blank slate to rethink and refocus. One of the first things I want to do is make sure I find the time to spend with my family. Also, I want to increase productivity while at it in a way that helps achieve my long-term vision.

What are your upcoming projects?

“It was an amazing experience performing at Drunken Teddy. The crowd was so enthusiastic and I love performing in this city and look forward to performing in Calcutta again,” said the Kali kali zulfon ke hitmaker, Madhur Sharma

There are a few song releases lined up for next year. But I don’t really want to spoil the surprise yet. Let us talk about the upcoming projects when it is the right time.

What’s the best part about doing live shows?

I think the best part about doing live shows is the immediate connection with the audience. I love watching people have a great time while listening to their favourite music. And the fact that I get to improvise while performing live while my band supports me just right is incredibly rewarding.

What’s the beauty of medleys?

I love medleys. I perform them all the time. When it comes to songs, certain parts of songs tend to attract us all more than the rest of them. Medleys are a perfect way to combine such crowd favourites and make the entire experience more fun. The beauty of medleys is that there is something for everyone in them. However, medleys need to be carefully crafted. You cannot just merge songs for the sake of it. There is an art to it too.

If not romantic numbers, which other genres do you think would suit you well?

Apart from romantic numbers, I think genres like indie-pop and rock will suit my vocal texture and singing style.

What do you feel about your musical journey till this point?

My musical journey so far has been nothing less than magical. I grew up in a small town where even considering a career in music was unheard of. So moving to the big city with musical aspirations and then receiving so much love from the masses has been an absolute dream come true for me. I love entertaining the crowd. And I intend to keep doing it for as long as possible. I only hope that I continue receiving this love even in the future.

What inspired you to do music?

I grew up listening to a lot of artistes across various genres. However, I have to say that my biggest inspiration has been my father. He was into music and was an amateur singer. Listening to him sing in the house is probably what instilled a love for music in me. And perhaps that is why I chose to do what I do today.

“I’m really grateful to the people of Calcutta for their amazing response and support. It drives and motivates us to bring such great line-ups in the future,” said Drunken Teddy co-owners Radhika and Akshit Agarwal.

“I have been a Madhur Sharma fan since he came first to Calcutta three years ago! The music and his voice at Drunken Teddy took me down memory lane,” said Nikhil Jain (left), owner of Rangoli saris. “The vibe of Drunken Teddy on these special nights is really good. After a hard day’s work, it’s a great way to unwind,” said actor Shaheb Bhattacherjee (right).

“Madhur Sharma is our all-time favourite and how he beautifully sings all the classic and old medleys is the best part! It was an amazing night,” said Aashna Sharma who was accompanied by her friend Ashutosh Kayal.

“It was quite an enjoyable experience. The song selection was too good. Songs like Zara zara, Dil ko tumse pyaar hua and Biba were a few of my favourites. Last but not the least he had a unique singing style and really connected with the audience,” said Ruchita Bohra Dugar who enjoyed the concert with her husband Kushal Dugar.
