Anderson Club

Anderson Club organised its annual winter carnival Indian Life Saving Society and t2 present Utsav from December 24 to January 1. Held on the club grounds, the colourful festival celebrated the spirit of the season through live performances of music, dance and drama, with lots of good food, fun and fashion thrown in. Besides the programmes hosted to celebrate Christmas and New Year’s Eve, it consisted of spectacular shows by celebrity guest artistes and an impressive showcase of talent in the performing arts by club members.

The old year ended on a note of warm nostalgia with a heartfelt musical tribute to legendary composer Salil Chowdhury (on December 27) and a performance of Paake Bipaake, a play written by veteran theatre personality Manoj Mitra (on December 28), both presented by members of the club. On December 29, singers Madhuri Dey and Ankan Aankkhi of Sa Re Ga Ma Pa fame entertained the audience with Bollywood chart-toppers. A musical extravaganza was on the cards on New Year’s Day, featuring the Sodha brothers, who were a part of RD Burman’s orchestra team, and well-known playback singer Vinod Rathod. Their performance of evergreen Bollywood hits of the yesteryears took the audience on a melodious trip down memory lane. Glimpses.
