Da Nobrega also spoke of the common passion that the city shares with Brazil, a football powerhouse that enjoys an immense support base in Calcutta. “Soccer and music are the two ways of making children from disadvantaged backgrounds connect with the social mainstream. Every favela has a chamber orchestra that plays classical and Brazilian music,” he pointed out.
