A look at Gauri & Nainika’s collection of ‘dark florals’ unveiled at Lakme Fashion Week

Their signature feminine romance was at play in the pretty dresses, jumpsuits and of course, gowns

Gauri & Nainika presented by R | Elan™ put out a pretty collection of “dark florals”. The ramp was foliage-inspired and “deep jewel tones” made up the collection. Their signature feminine romance was at play in the pretty dresses, jumpsuits and of course, gowns. And most of them had a floral splash.

The sister-duo showcased a variety of dresses ranging from easy daytime styles to classic evening wear. We loved the romantic reds. They reminded us of vintage red-carpet dressing. The pop mouth added to the charm.

Fashion creator, entrepreneur and investor Masoom Minawala walked in a “fluted” gown.

Post-show, we asked Gauri and Nainika what they found enchanting about florals. “What’s not?! We are just obsessed with flowers, literally. We keep taking photos of flowers when we go out. Designers who like doing feminine clothes for the last so many decades have done floral prints and you reimagine it every time,” said Gauri. Nainika remembered how they “grew up in a garden”. “Gauri and I have always been inspired by my mother and her love for gardening.... That’s how florals have entered our collections from Day One,” she said.

Did the sisters coordinate their black-and-white looks?! “We don’t even think about what we are wearing till the last second... we are just running around,” laughed Gauri. Masoom had some tips to do white this season. “I think monotone is really in. So, I love how Gauri has worn it and that’s how I would wear it as well, which is like a really lovely white-on-white outfit, take just one statement accessory and then let it have its own moment,” she smiled.
