The ABID Interiors International Architecture and Interior Design Expo was an extravagant and comprehensive nod to the design landscape in India. Inaugurated on February 1, the exhibition was open to visitors from February 2-5 and featured more than 200 stalls within the sprawling Milan Mela grounds.

Both individual customers as well as businesses had a chance to witness emerging trends in architecture around the world and in India. Each stall, a testament to ingenuity and an acute understanding of spatial dynamics, pushed the boundaries of traditional ideas of interior design.

Under the theme ‘Harmony in Design’, the expo aimed to highlight sustainable practices in modern architecture. A unique feature of this year’s expo was its art exhibition and workshops, that showcased indigenous art forms of Bengal. Special stalls were dedicated to workshops on ceramics, dokra, mask-making and printmaking, providing visitors a hands-on experience of these traditional crafts. Life-sized installations offered visitors a vivid insight into the realms of design and art. Additionally, a model sustainable village was set up to showcase furniture and artefacts crafted by underprivileged artisans, shedding light on the importance of sustainable practices in design.

The expo was inaugurated by chief guest Sussanne Khan, a celebrity interior designer, and Ridhi Khosla Jalan, an interior design expert, along with ABID president Kamlesh Agarwal. Gaurav Bajaj, director of Hettich India, was also present as a special guest. Glimpses from the inauguration.
