Giridih: Six relatives returning from wedding die as SUV hits tree

Two children sitting in the back portion of the vehicle survived the accident and have been released after first aid

Six relatives returning from a wedding died after an SUV carrying them dashed against a roadside tree on the Birni-Giridih main road in the Baghmara block of Jharkhand’s Giridih district on Saturday.

However, two children sitting in the back portion of the SUV survived the accident and were released after first aid.

According to Giridih mufassil thana officer-in-charge Kamlesh Paswan, the SUV was coming at a speed and dashed against the tree on the Birni-Giridih main road at 3.15am.

“The mukhiya and other people reached the spot due to the noise of the mishap and immediately informed the police station. Our patrolling party which was nearby rushed within a few minutes and with the help of villagers took out the bodies which were stuck in the SUV and rushed them to the Sadar Hospital in the SUV coming from the same marriage party,” Kamlesh Paswan said.

Two found dead with throats slit

Buxar (Bihar): A woman and her five-year-old daughter were found dead with their throats slit in Bihar’s Buxar district, police said on Saturday.

The bodies were found in their residence in Ballapur village, Buxar superintendent of police Manish Kumar said.

The deceased were identified as Anita Devi, 29, and her daughter Soni Kumari.

“Investigators have recovered certain objects from the spot, which have been sent for forensic examination. The exact cause is not known. A case has been registered and further investigation is on,” the SP said.

Anita’s husband, Babloo Yadav, was not present at home at the time of the incident, the officer said.
