A dalit girl was allegedly gang raped by two unidentified youth in Bundu area of Petarwar block of Bokaro yesterday evening leading to tension in area as the two accused boys arrested after the incident belong to other community.

The local residents of Petarwar who blocked Bokaro Petarwar Road this morning protesting the incident, demanded strict action against the guilty.

Meanwhile, Bokaro police constituted an SIT to probe the incident and also ensured the medical examination of the victim girl, who is a minor and student of class X of a government school of Petarwar.

Notably, the incident came to light on Wednesday evening when some local residents of Bundu witnessed a few boys trying to run away from the local market after dropping a minor girl in an unconscious state.

They nabbed two of the boys who were trying to run away from the site and informed police which first admitted girld to local Primary health centre from where she was rushed to Petarwar Health centre and finally referred to Bokaro Sadar Hospital.

Chandraprakash Chaudhary, accused the Petarwar police of trying to subdue the issue and sat on Dharna in Bokaro Sadar hospital itself last night. Notably, the victim girl is a class X student and was also in school dress during the time of incident.

Mother of the survivor while talking to media said, “My daughter went out for tuition classes and from there she went to school but didn’t return home till 3 pm although she used to return back to home at around 2 pm itself. When we enquired from her friends they informed us that she didn’t reach school after which my husband reached the Petarwar police station to lodge an FIR. But meanwhile she was traced.”

Chandan Jha, Bokaro SP while interacting with the media said, “The girl during the police questioning denied any rape incident however medical examination report of the girl will reveal the truth”

Navin Jaiswal BJP MLA of Hazaribagh and Lambodar Mahto, AJSU MLA of Gomia meanwhile raised the issue in the Jharkhand Assembly and demanded fast track hearing of the case.
