A 64-year-old man in Mumbai with a travel history to Dubai on Tuesday became the first victim of the novel coronavirus in Maharashtra, which has reported the highest number of Covid-19 cases in India.

Three persons have succumbed to the coronavirus in the country so far.

Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation commissioner Praveen Pardeshi said the deceased, who had been admitted to a civic-run hospital, had been suffering from other health issues as well.

Earlier, a 76-year-old man from Kalaburagi in Karnataka with a travel history to Saudi Arabia and a 68-year-old woman in Delhi died after they tested positive for the infection.

The count rose on Tuesday to 138 patients, including 14 patients who have been discharged.
