Farmers and workers will hold a three-day continuous sit-in demonstration in front of the Raj Bhavan in Patna from November 26 to 28 to press for their demands and protest against the policies of Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led central government.

The sit-in is being organised in all state capitals in the country on the call of the Samyukta Kisan Morcha, central trade unions and labour organisations, especially those affiliated to the Left parties. It has been designated as ‘Kisan – Mazdoor – Mahaparav’ (mega sit-in of farmers and workers).

Representatives of various farmers’ and workers’ bodies met in Patna to deliberate on the sit-in and chalk out the course of action.

“We expect thousands of farmers and workers from different parts of Bihar to converge in Patna to participate in the sit-in. We will also submit a memorandum to the governor about our demands and opposition to various policies of the Centre,” Kisan Sabha state general secretary Vinod Kumar told reporters.

The farmers and workers will press for the MSP guarantee law, reinstitution of the Agricultural Produce Market Committee Act in Bihar, adequate compensation for agriculture land being taken by the government, bringing back the old pension scheme, food security guarantee, employment for the youths, and cutting down inflation.
