“Vote milega usey jo Patripool banayega,” Mumbai rapper Ravig warned in `bitter verse` that is now viral.

The Patripool bridge, a 104-year-old structure, was torn down in August last year after the Central Railways deemed it unsafe. It was supposed to be rebuilt in a matter of months by the Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation. However, more than a year later, the construction is yet to be completed.

The song details the problems commuters face in Kalyan because of the incomplete construction. The bridge was a critical link between Navi Mumbai and the suburb, as well as the western and eastern sections of the city.

Ravig puts the authorities in the dock, asking when the construction of the bridge will be complete in his timely — as well as catchy — number. The innovative form of protest against the state corporation by the rapper has earned him praise on social media.

Some joked about their own plight:

Many tweeters prayed for intervention by political leaders:

A re-audit of bridges in and around Mumbai conducted by the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) had identified at least 29 of the structures as dangerous. The re-audit was commissioned after a foot overbridge near the iconic Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus collapsed in peak hour, leaving several dead.

The deadline for completing the construction of the Patripool bridge has reportedly been extended.
