Some Kashmiri youths studying in Maharashtra’s Yavatmal were allegedly slapped and forced to chant slogans such as “Hindustan zindabad” by a group on Wednesday night.

One of the Kashmiri youths, who identified himself as Umar, is seen in a video standing outside a rented accommodation at Waghapur Road along with his companions when a group walks up to them. Several reports claimed that the attackers were members of the Yuva Sena, the youth wing of the Shiv Sena. The Yuva Sena “condemned” the attack.

Umar is seen in the video telling the attackers that they are free to beat him up. Umar tells the attackers that his father is a doctor and that he has come to Yavatmal to play.

“Your father is a doctor? Which of your relatives is a terrorist?” one of the attackers asks Umar. The attackers are seen accusing the relatives of the Kashmiri youths of “killing jawans in Kashmir”.

Police sources said the Kashimiri youths were students of Patel College of Physical Education. “A case has been registered at Lohara police station,” said M. Rajkumar, the Yavatmal police chief.
