New Delhi: The Centre has approved the transfer of a Madras High Court judge back to Delhi High Court, ending a year of controversy.

Justice Rajiv Shakdher was transferred in February last year by the Supreme Court collegium, headed by then Chief Justice T.S. Thakur. The move had evoked resentment in the bar. The Centre, too, had nudged the collegium to reconsider.

Last September, the collegium, headed by present Chief Justice Dipak Misra, cleared the transfer of Justice Shakdher back to Delhi. The Centre granted approval on Tuesday.
