Seat allocation within the INDIA bloc will be disclosed shortly after the Lok Sabha polls notification.

Supriyo Bhattacharya, central general secretary and party spokesperson of the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM), told newspersons in Ranchi on Tuesday evening that seat distribution among the INDIA bloc members in Jharkhand was nearing finalisation.

“We have nearly concluded seat allocation in Jharkhand among the INDIA bloc partners, and there is no ambiguity. It will be announced promptly after the Lok Sabha election notification,” stated Bhattacharya.

The JMM senior figure also asserted a widespread consensus among alliance partners in Jharkhand.

Notably, the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha has led a coalition government in the state alongside the Congress-RJD since 2019, with support from the sole CPI-ML MLA.

The Left-wing parties have also lent their support on numerous issues.

A senior Congress leader disclosed that Ghulam Ahmed Mir, All India Congress Committee in-charge for Jharkhand and Bengal, will engage in discussions with constituency leaders between March 5 and 9, including a meeting with the JMM.

“We anticipate the Election Commission of India to issue the poll notification by the second week of March. By then, our roster will be finalised in consultation with the JMM, Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) and the Left. The parties are largely aligned on most seats,” said the Congress MLA from Santhal Pargana.

Incidentally, in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, the BJP and its ally, the All Jharkhand Students Union, won 12 out of the 14 parliamentary seats from Jharkhand, while the Congress (Geeta Koda from Singhbhum) and the JMM (Vijay Hansdah from Rajmahal) won one each.

Last week, the Bharatiya Janata Party unveiled its candidates for 11 out of the 14 Lok Sabha seats in the first phase of the 195 candidates.

Congress state president Rajesh Thakur confirmed their seat allocation.
“We will announce it jointly with the JMM and other alliance partners immediately after the announcement of the poll notification,” said Thakur.
