The government had on Tuesday announced restoration of hospital's broadband Internet connectivity after five months of information blockade believed to have led to a healthcare crisis.

Internet services were suspended in the Valley on the night of August 4, the day before the Centre announced abrogation of Article 370 provisions and bifurcation of the erstwhile Jammu and Kashmir state into Union territories.

Schools too will get their broadband connections back while postpaid mobile users can access SMS services again, the government had said.

Government spokesperson Rohit Kansal said broadband connectivity to hospitals and schools and SMS services — to 40 lakh postpaid mobiles — were being restored from midnight.

However, complaints poured in from early Wednesday morning after subscribers, except those with BSNL connections, found that they could not send or receive text messages. Most hospitals were without Internet services. Late on Wednesday evening, the situation had remained unchanged.
