Jaipur, Nov 18: A young farmer in Rajasthan has offered to donate his kidney to external affairs minister Sushma Swaraj, who is admitted to AIIMS with kidney failure and is undergoing tests for a transplant.

Vishek Vishnoi, 33, a resident of Akalkhori village that is 80km from Jodhpur, has taken to Twitter and Facebook to spread the information that he is willing to donate a kidney. He said nobody had responded to his offer yet.

Vishnoi, who said he was a big admirer of Sushma, especially because of her response to distress calls from the Indian diaspora, has tweeted to the external affairs minister: "I can donate, no terms and conditions just contact me, I will come Delhi." He has provided his phone number in the post. Vishnoi has posted his wish on Facebook as well.

"Sushmaji has always gone out of her way to respond to distress calls from Indians and have evacuated labourers from the Gulf. She is in distress now and I am ready to donate my kidney," said Vishnoi, who had worked in west Africa, Gurgaon and Delhi before farming peanuts and cumin in Akalkhori.

Saying he is medically fit, Vishnoi added: "I will be able to live with one kidney."

Vishnoi, whose wife passed away last year and who has to take care of his elderly father, six-year-old daughter and four-year-old son, said he was not sure about his blood group but "it could be AB Negative".

Several others have offered to donate a kidney to Sushma.

Traffic constable Gaurav Singh Dangi, 26, of Madhya Pradesh has tweeted : "I want to donate my kidney to you and my blood group is O Positive. One can live with one kidney. There can be no better thing to do than donate the other kidney to a needy person."

One Ali Imran Naqvi has tweeted: Although with responsibility of a 5 year-old-son, I can offer my kidney to u for nation's good. I m O+. May Allah... help u!"

Another of Sushma's Twitter followers, Nikhil Dadhich, has written: "If you wish. I am ready to donate my kidney for you. Nation needs your services."

Sushma has thanked her followers, tweeting : "Some friends have also offered their kidneys for my transplant. I have no words to express my deep sense of gratitude towards them."
