Calcutta, March 1 :     Congress supporters ransacked the Salt Lake (East) police station today to protest ?police inaction? over the alleged rape of a minor. Police lathicharge to disperse the agitators resulted in injuries to several agitators and residents. Police said a woman had come from Mahishbathan yesterday and lodged an FIR against a local youth for ?misbehaving? with her five-year-old daughter. This afternoon, Salt Lake Town Congress president Biswanath Ghosh and several other party councillors and activists thronged the police station, alleging that the authorities were not taking any action against the ?rapist?. They also ransacked the police station. Congress leader Pradip Bhattacharya said that a second FIR was lodged today by the mother of the five-year-old only at the intervention of police director-general D.K. Sanyal.
