The BJP and the Congress are neck and neck in Madhya Pradesh as trends in 226 out of the total 230 Assembly seats showed the Opposition party having a slight edge over the ruling faction.

The Congress is leading in 110 seats while the BJP is ahead in 108 constituencies.

Mayavati's Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) is leading in four seats, and the Samajwadi Party is ahead in one. Independents are also leading in two seats in the central Indian state.

The BJP, under the leadership of Shivraj Singh Chouhan, is seeking a fourth term in office while the Congress is making a determined bid to unseat him.
