Chhattisgarh govt announces host of irrigation projects, 'Chitrakote Mahotsav' closing ceremony

The Bhupesh Baghel-led government declared a slew of upcoming projects to the tune of several crores for repairing canals and easing water access for crops

Maniyari Reservoir

The Chhattisgarh Government has approved Rs 22 crores 52 lakh 75 thousand for various works under Mungeli district’s Maniyari Reservoir. The approved works include CC lining and renovation of the canal.

Mand Diversion Project

The Chhattisgarh Government has approved Rs 37 crores 26 lakh 67 thousand for the canal construction work under the Mand Diversion Project in Sarguja district’s Sitapur Development Block. The completion of the project is expected to provide an irrigation facility on 1300 hectares of land for Rabi and Kharif crops.

Jagdalpur: Chitrakote Mahotsav to be concluded on February 16

The colorful three-day 'Chitrakote Mahotsav' will conclude on Thursday, February 16. MP Shri Deepak Baij will be present as the chief guest in the closing ceremony and the programme will be presided over by Shri Lakheshwar Baghel, President of Bastar Area Tribal Development Authority.

MLA Shri Rajman Benjam, Parliamentary Secretary Shri Rekhchand Jain, Chairman of Handicrafts Development Board Shri Chandan Kashyap, Chairman of Chhattisgarh Renewable Energy Development Authority Shri Mithilesh Swarnakar, Chairman of Chhattisgarh Fishermen Welfare Board Shri MR Nishad, Vice Chairman of Indravati Basin Development Authority Shri Rajeev Sharma, Zila Panchayat President Smt. Vedwati Kashyap, Janpad Panchayat President Shri Mahesh Kashyap, Jagdalpur Mayor Smt. Safira Sahu, Zila Panchayat Member Smt. Malti Baij, Janpad Panchayat Vice President Shri Yogesh Baij, Jagdalpur Municipal Corporation Chairman Smt. Kavita Sahu, Sarpanch Smt. Butki Kashyap will be present on the occasion as special guest.

Performances of Chhattisgarhi singers Aaru Sahu, and Nitin Dubey, local folk dance, and performances of school students will be the center of attraction in the closing ceremony. Along with this, the winners of competitions including kabaddi, volleyball, pitthul, tug of war, chair race, and rowing will also be felicitated.
