The Supreme Court on Friday adjourned the hearing of Trinamul MP Mahua Moitra’s petition, challenging her expulsion from the Lok Sabha over the “cash-for-query” controversy, to January 3 as the bench before which it was listed said it had not pursued the file.

As soon as the matter came up for hearing on Friday, Justice Sanjiv Khanna heading the bench told senior advocate Abhishek Manu Singhvi, appearing for Moitra, that the matter may be taken up for hearing either on January 3 or 4.

Gaya district magistrate Thiyagarajan S.M. welcomed him at the airport. Thousands of Buddhist devotees flanked the roads to catch a glimpse of him as he travelled to the Tibetan monastery where he would be staying during the visit. Although he is expected to stay till mid-January, his office has released his schedule at Bodh Gaya only till January 1 so far.

The Dalai Lama will inaugurate the three-day International Sangha Forum 2023 on ‘Bridging Traditions, Embracing Modernity: A Dialogue on Buddha’s Teaching in Today’s World’.

He will participate in a prayer meet for world peace on December 23, give public discourses from December 29 to 31, and attend prayers for his long life on January 1.
