The Bhim Army chief said there have been state-sponsored atrocities on people every day after protests broke out across the country against the Citizenship Amendment Act, which fast-tracks citizenship to non-Muslim refugees from three Islamic countries that border India.

He has urged the UN body to set up a commission to monitor the violence against Muslims, Dalits, Adivasis and other Indian minorities.

“It would be best for the international community to act before the situation in India devolves into a full state genocide against the Muslims as it has been in the neighbouring countries of Myanmar and China,” he wrote.

Azad also highlighted people’s apprehensions about the proposed National Register of Citizens, a process that seeks to establish bona fide citizens of the country.
