The re-elected Aam Aadmi Party government will be sworn in at the Ramlila Grounds on Sunday, deputy chief minister Manish Sisodia has said.
Senior AAP leaders said on the condition of anonymity that the same set of ministers would be repeated to avoid a squabble within the legislative party.
The swearing-in has been postponed from February 14 (Friday) to Sunday to avoid possible criticism over celebrating the electoral victory on the first anniversary of the Pulwama terror attack in which 40 CRPF soldiers were killed.
The first two AAP governments had been sworn in on Valentine’s Day (February 14).
On Wednesday morning, chief minister-elect Arvind Kejriwal met lieutenant-governor Anil Baijal to discuss the formation of the government. Later, Kejriwal was unanimously elected the leader of the legislature party at a meeting of the MLA-elects at his residence on Flagstaff Road.
A senior AAP leader said: “The same council of ministers will be repeated. They will all be sworn in on Sunday…. No decision has been taken on whether parliamentary secretaries will be appointed.”
The Election Commission had disqualified 20 MLAs for holding offices of profit as parliamentary secretaries to ministers in the AAP government in 2016. This was later overturned by Delhi High Court.
