AAP minister Satyendar Jain denied permission to travel to Australia

The Centre has denied permission to Delhi health minister Satyendar Jain to travel to Australia to deliver a lecture at the University of Melbourne next week.

The AAP politician was to speak on Delhi’s “mohalla clinics”, a scheme Australians want to replicate to increase their marginalised groups’ access to medical treatment. Indian public servants need foreign ministry clearance to travel abroad.

Kerala tourism minister K. Surendran (CPM) was in September denied clearance to attend a UN World Tourism Organisation event in China.

In September, Mamata Banerjee too had alleged that the Ramakrishna Mission had been threatened with cancellation of the 125th anniversary celebrations of the Parliament of World’s Religions in Chicago, where she had been invited. A Trinamul spokesperson had blamed the “BJP-RSS”.
