Once the rescue pipe breaks through the debris at the Silkyara tunnel, NDRF personnel plan to pull out the trapped workers one by one with the help of wheeled stretchers tied to ropes, a senior official said. Rescue operations to evacuate 41 workers trapped in Uttarakhand's Silkyara tunnel resumed after an overnight hurdle delayed the drilling by several hours. An iron mesh which came in the way of the auger machine drilling through the rubble at the tunnel to create an escape passage for the trapped workers has been removed, officials said.

An FIR registered pertaining to alleged illegal gambling and cyber fraud worth Rs 15,000 crore linked to Mahadev betting app has been transferred to the Mumbai crime branch for investigation, an official said. The FIR was registered earlier this month at Matunga police station in Mumbai against 32 people, including the 'promoter' of the app Saurabh Chandrakar, Ravi Uppal, Shubham Soni and others for allegedly committing the fraud since 2019, police earlier said.
An apparently inebriated 16-year-old stabbed another teen more than 55 times, slit his throat, dragged the body through the street and did a jig while he carried out the grisly crime in east Delhi’s Welcome colony earlier this week, police said on Thursday. The accused, who was arrested on Wednesday morning and has confessed, did not know the 17-year-old who he had approached for money to buy biryani, officials said.
